Thomas O. Castas, 74, died in Payson, Ariz. April 19, 2007. He was born Sept. 21, 1932 in Danville, Ill.
He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force and earned a bachelor's of arts degree in accounting from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Castas was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, a charter member of the Scottsdale Elks Lodge, was past treasurer of the Payson Men's Golf Club, was on the Rim Country Bowling League and retired as vice president/lead controller of National Solid Fuel Company for Rocket Fuel and research/development of aircraft ejection systems.
Mr. Castas was an explorer of life, new things and new places. He moved to Payson in 2002.
Mr. Castas is survived by his wife, Evelyn, daughters Cynthia Evans (David) of Chino Valley, Ariz.; Jennifer Costin (Favio) of Thousand Oaks, Calif; Linda Castas of Tenino, Wash.; Janice Castas of Apache Junction, Ariz.; son Michael Castas of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Castas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Peter Castas; mother, Agnes Vacketta Castas; and brother, Peter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 511 S. St. Phillips St., Payson.
