Officials at Gila Community College have been notified that 11 of the recent graduates of the Nursing Program at Gila Community College have all passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in their first attempt. NCLEX is the Arizona State Board of Nursing Licensing Examination.

Senior Dean Margo Bracamonte states, "This news and the accomplishments of our students is a culmination of two years of hard work. It also speaks volumes in terms of the quality of instruction that Gila Community College is providing."

Arizona's newest Registered Nurses from Gila County are: Sarah Bontempi, Megan Disbrow, Jacqleen Garrett, Helen Paslay, Karen Scott, and Jonni Tharp, all of Payson; and Mollie Badgett, Dana Butterworth, Troy Layden, Julie Madrid, Bambi Norcross, and Thomas Sjoberg all of Globe.

In Arizona, only 89 percent of those taking the Arizona State Board of Nursing Licensing Examination pass the exam on their first attempt. The 100 percent success rate for Gila Community College is a milestone for the college and nursing program.
