There are eight confirmed teams competing for The Rim Country Spelling Bee trophy on Saturday.
The event stars at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Parish Center of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
"I think it will be fun for the public to watch. I hear there will be cheerleaders and pompom girls.
"Plus, our whole staff (at RCL) is crazy, so we won't let things get serious," Su Connell, RCLP director said.
The stumpers, ringers and just plain hard-to-spell words are perhaps not as devious as those at the first year's bee.
Still, members of Ruthless Rotarians, Letter Perfect of Wal-Mart and Executives of Realty Executives will have to spell words such as "asterisks" and "undercapitalization," while under the pressure to bring the trophy home.
Other competitors included The Hikers and Bikers of Chris Smith Investments, the Roundup Rebels of this publication, and teams from the Mazatzal Casino, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and one formed by Bob Edwards. The event is a fund-raiser for center.
