Home Invasion, Assault Investigated

Payson police said a Payson woman was assaulted in her home last Thursday afternoon by her ex-boyfriend.

Jeffrey Lincoln Pollard, 29, allegedly broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend and after assaulting her, threatened to kill both her and her mother, Payson police said.

Payson police declined to release the name of the victim or her mother because of concerns for their privacy.

Patrol Sergeant Todd Bramlet said Pollard had gone to the home of his ex-girlfriend for unknown reasons.

After he arrived there, Bramlet said he began to threaten the ex-girlfriend, who had a 2-year-old child with her, and she locked herself in the bathroom with the child and called police.

The ex-girlfriend is pregnant at this time, according to police.

"Officers Mike Varga, Lorenzo Ortiz and myself were the first to respond on the call," Bramlet said.

"We were on our way to the scene when we recognized the suspect from his description and saw him running across the Bashas' parking lot."

He added, "The suspect ran to the home of an associate, Jason Robinson at 207 E. Wade, and locked himself in the bathroom and would not come out until threatened with K-9."

Police said Pollard did not have permission to be in the home of Robinson.

Bramlet said the suspect broke through a window to gain access to the home.

Pollard was arrested last month on domestic violence charges also, Payson police said.

After the K-9 unit was called to the scene, Pollard surrendered without further incident.

He was booked into the Payson jail on charges of domestic violence-threats; threats; domestic violence-criminal trespass; and domestic violence-aggravated assault.

Pollard's bond was set at $3,000 Friday morning, police said.
