Joy Yateman died Aug. 20, 2007 in Payson at the age of 77. She was born in Utica, N.Y. on Sept. 5, 1929.
Her parents were Jim and Jean Norton of Watertown, N.Y.
She graduated from St. Lawrence University, in Canton, N.Y and later earned a teaching degree from Penn State, Harrisburg, Pa.
She taught kindergarten classes at the Jewish Community Center in York, Pa. for many years and later read to early grades in Payson, Ariz.
Mrs. Yateman was very active in church activities both in Pennsylvania and Arizona. She was also an active hiker, square dancer, camper and volunteer during her 15 years of retirement.
Mrs. Yateman is survived by her husband, Don Yateman; daughters Lisa and Diane; sons Steve and Mark and sister Carole. She has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
During retirement she enjoyed many trips to foreign countries, including Europe, Egypt, Thailand, Mexico and Costa Rica.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13 at Mount Cross Lutheran Church in Payson, Ariz.
