Melvin T. Hochstetler (Mel), 68, of Payson, died Aug. 10, 2007 at RTA Hospice Care facility, following lengthy illness.

Mr. Hochstetler was a self-employed custom carpenter for the majority of his life.

He will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, integrity, and devotion to his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Tina (Terell) Varnadore, Rhonda (Rex) Rife, Lisa (Gary) Bowland, and his son, Roger (Pam) Hochstetler, along with five grandchildren, Dawn Sell, David Rife, Brady Bowland, Tara Holmes, Toby Hochstetler, and seven great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Keegan, Zavier, Ashten, Audrey, Riley, and Mackenzie. Also surviving are two sisters, Anna May Miller and Alice Miller, and three brothers, Dan, Leroy, and Omar, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the RTA Hospice Facility at 511 S. Mud Springs Road, Payson, AZ 85541.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31 at the Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
