Habitat for Humanity celebrated a ground breaking Friday, Aug. 24, in honor of 14 new homes that will be built on the corner of Longhorn and McLane.
The houses will be built over a three-year period.
The four families to occupy those first houses got the honor of breaking ground.
Most of the homes will be approximately 1,200 square feet. Several of them will be two story structures with three bedrooms.
The homes will have a feature not common to this area; water harvesting roofs. When it rains, the roofs will collect water and recycle it for use in the homes.
