Eugene W. Hanes, 87, of Topton, Pa., formerly of Phoenix and Strawberry, Ariz., died Dec. 3, 2007 in Allentown, Pa. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Oliansky) Hanes, who died April 30, 1996.
Born on June 29, 1920 in Newton, Ill., he was the son of the late Raymond D. and Blanche S. (Halterman) Hanes.
He was an airline operations and ticket agent for American Airlines for 30 years at the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, before retiring in the mid-1980s. He was a mechanic in the Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include daughter Marsha L. (James L.) DeForest, Pottsville, Pa.; son Steven J. (Linda S. Rohr) Hanes, Plano, Texas; grandchildren Bradley S. DeForest, Michael A. DeForest, Kristin M. DeForest, Danitra S. Hanes, Brian M. Hanes; great-grandchildren Michaela DeForest, Susanna DeForest and Anne DeForest. He was predeceased by his sister Anita Mae (Hanes) Lewallen in 1966.
Graveside services are at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 West Van Buren Street, Phoenix, Ariz. The Rabbi Bonnie Koppell will be officiating.
