Charles Bishop, 83, of Payson, died Dec. 11, 2007. He was born Oct. 1, 1924 to Charles and Katherine Bishop of Detroit, Mich.
Mr. Bishop moved with his family to California at an early age. He graduated from Palm Springs High School and the University of California, Los Angeles and began a teaching career -- first in elementary school, then as a high school math teacher; and as a counselor, activity director and an administrator.
He served four years in California National Guard.
He continued his education at Long Beach State College and the University of Southern California. He met his future wife in a statistics class while they were working on their master's degrees.
He retired after 40 years in education and moved to Payson in 1995.
He was active in the Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities. He was also active in Kiwanis in California and served with the Key Club in Payson.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bishop; daughters, Judith of Seattle, Wash. and Jennifer of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katherine Bishop.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 204 W. Airport Rd.
