Adults Women's and Men's Volleyball

Began Dec. 10

Adult Men's Volleyball has three competitive teams: Ludke Builders, Payson Eye Care, and Chapman Auto Center.

There are five Women's Competitive teams: Big O Tires, Cha Ching, H & H Paving, Old Hits and Serves You Right.

There are five teams in the Women's Recreational league: Bashas' GQ Builders, Off the Wall, PRMC, Skyline Tree Service.

Adult Drop-in Soccer is played from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Drop-in soccer lights turn on at 5:30 p.m. and go to 7:30 p.m. on the South Rumsey Soccer Field.

Youth Basketball

5th - 6th Grades - Games begin Jan. 11.

3rd - 4th Grades - Register Dec. 10 - Jan. 4 Games Begin in February

Cost is $20 per child. Games may be played on Saturdays and during the week. Those who register after the deadline for their age group will be placed on teams only if space permits.

Registration fee includes reversible jersey, a minimum of ten games, and an end-of-the-season pizza party at Pizza Factory.

First annual Rim Country Open Disc Golf Tournament is at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5.

Registration/Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. Disc Golf is played much like traditional golf, but instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc.

The tournament will consist of two rounds of competition and three divisions: Open (Pros), Amateur and Novice (Beginners). Competition will start at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5 at Rumsey Park.

Trophies will be awarded to top finishers. The fee to participate is $25 which will include a "player's package" for everyone.

Register now through Jan. 5 at the Parks and Recreation office or online at www.paysonparks.com.

ATV Rider Course - ATV Safety Institute

10:30 a.m., Jan. 19 or 10:30 a.m., Feb. 23 at Payson Event Center

The ATV Rider Course provides a fast-paced, half-day, hands-on training session, which includes pre-ride inspection, starting and stopping, quick turns, hill riding, and emergency stopping and swerving and riding over obstacles.

You'll also learn about protective gear, local regulations, places to ride and environmental concerns. People of all ages can enroll, but parents are required to be present for riders under 12.

Take a hike

Payson Area Trails System Hike from Event Center Gila County Trailhead to Peach Orchard: 9:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21

Like to hike but not sure where to go? Join us for a free group hike on one of the newly signed Payson Area Trails System (PATS) and U.S. Forest Service routes from the Event Center Trailhead to the Peach Orchard Trailhead. This beautiful route features fantastic views of the Mazatzal Mountains, riparian areas and old mining ruins. Don't forget your hiking boots and water.
