Tibetan Buddhist study group

The Payson Tibetan Buddhist Study and Meditation Group meets every Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lama Erma Pounds, Director of the Tibetan Buddhist Center in Tempe, joins the group periodically. We welcome new members.

The group includes committed Buddhists as well as people from a variety of spiritual and religious paths who find in Buddhism much to enhance their individual spiritual journeys. We meditate for a half hour; the rest of the meeting is devoted to discussion of readings, tapes, cds, films that offer a variety of approaches to the Buddha's teachings. NAARFE meeting

The Mogollon Chapter 1235 of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees will be holding its monthly meeting Dec. 19. This will also be the group's Christmas luncheon.

The luncheon will be at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino, starting at noon with a short meeting to follow. All current and retired federal employees are invited to attend. Hope to see you there.

Criminal justice courses

Gila Community College Payson Campus is offering criminal justice courses beginning in January. Classes include: introduction to administration of justice from 5 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Friday; criminal investigation from 9 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Saturday; and the evidence course will be held from 1 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. Saturday.

Gamblers Anonymous

The purpose of Gamblers Anonymous is to provide hope and help for those who are suffering from the results of a gambling problem and have a desire to stop gambling. Support offered foster parents, grandparents

A support group for grandparents and foster parents will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Parent Resource Center, 514 W. Wade Ln. (next to the dome).

Grandparents and foster parents will meet to share resources and support. In addition, educational topics of interest will also be covered.

Mogollon Health Alliance Auxiliary

This volunteer organization is looking for good men and women to join the fun of sharing time within our community, even four hours a week could benefit you and us. Areas to volunteer are Arts and Crafts, Almost New Thrift Shop at 304 E. Aero Drive, La Boutique Gift Shop in PRMC and PRMC Hospital services. Profits from our shops are given back to our community through fire department grants, health scholarships, free CPR classes and community health programs, such as the Women's Wellness Forum, the Community Health and Care Fair and the Gracie Haught Children's Memorial Fund. There are 12 classes in this course, which include six spiritual meditation techniques, as well as twelve cards used for self-inquiry and self-improvement. Held on Wednesday evenings. The Way of the Heart

The Way of the Heart offers a three-part event every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. It begins with a vegetarian gourmet dinner, followed by an instructional video with meditation, and finishes with a devotional occasion and chanting. This is based on the Wisdom of Adi Da Samraj, the great avatar, who is here for the sake of all beings.
