Arizona State Parks' first official Plein Air "Paint-Out" of the year will be next Saturday.
Artists are invited to bring their easels, brushes and drop cloths to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum (a 45-minute drive due west of Globe-Miami on Highway 60 or a half-hour east of Apache Junction, near milepost #223 as you approach the historic copper mining town of Superior) for the Paint-Out.
The event is from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5.
Artists can capture scenes around the Arboretum along with members the Mesa Arts League, Arizona Plein Air Painters and meet artists from throughout the Grand Canyon State.
Arizona State Parks opens a new exhibit Jan. 5 in the Visitors Center art gallery (http://ag.arizona.edu/bta/pleinairpainters) showcasing winners of the Paint-Out series held at different state parks throughout 2007.
