Chief Ray Larsen of the Christopher/Kohl's Fire Department wants all the communities of the Christopher/Kohl's Fire District to know the Board meeting on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. will be a meeting of interest for almost every person in the District.

There are two important issues at hand. The first one is that Gila County District One Supervisor Tommie Cline Martin will be present and on the agenda to talk about the wildland interface and to make a challenge with a dollar offer on clean up. You can get information on Martin's offer at the meeting.

Larsen encourages homeowner association presidents to attend or send a representative. Martin will be making a valid offer. You are all encouraged to at least come and listen.

The second issue is, as publicly noticed at the fire departments five posting areas, there is a consolidation group that has been meeting on the feasibility study of merging Fire Districts in Northern Gila County. This is a nationwide trend that is happening and is very prevalent in other parts of Arizona. There are pros and cons to this issue, and updates are going to be at the board meeting. If you live in this area, you need to be aware of this matter, because it will affect all residents.
