The local bass fishing team of Heidi D'Arcangelo of Payson and Jake Randall of Pine teamed up to win the All-Star Couples Tournament held at Lake Pleasant this past week.
The couple's circuit allows for a man and woman to fish for eight hours on the water and combine their catches for a six-fish limit and total weight.
The All-Star Couples Circuit has encouraged more women to fish competitively since its beginning six years ago. Heidi and Jake had a six-fish limit with a total weight of 8.25 pounds, which was good enough for the tournament title and a $2,350 paycheck for a day of fishing.
After two tournaments, Jake and Heidi are currently in first place for Anglers of the Year on the All-Star circuit.
There are five more competitions in the state at Lake Pleasant, Bartlett and Roosevelt to determine the point's leaders for the season and the prestigious title of Anglers of the Year.
There overall game plan always includes pre-fishing each lake in hopes of figuring out what bait those bass will bite. They have fished together for three years.
This was their first tournament victory and they are looking forward for more to follow this season.
Jake also fishes the Best Bet aluminum boat tournament trail with his nephew, Paul Randall and they also won on Lake Pleasant the previous week with an 11.5 pound, six-fish limit.
Back-to-back victories are hard to come by in tournament bass fishing and Jake Randall did that in eight days. This weekend, enjoy God's creation and take someone fishing.
