George F. Klaus died Feb. 10, 2007. He was born Oct. 20, 1932 in Minnesota to Fred and Lillian Klaus.
His family liked to tease that George was born in jail -- actually his grandfather Frank was the county sheriff and George was born in the apartment above the jail.
He joined the Army and served with Battery A in the Korean War where he spent the most memorable part of his life serving his country.
When he returned home, he met and married Gwen. In December 2006 they celebrated 50 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Gwen; brother Ray, Florida; his two sons Mark Klaus and Steven Klaus, Phoenix; and his daughter Karyn Nelsen, Payson.
A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Payson at 11 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 14.
