Head Start Enrollment


Payson's Head Start is currently enrolling for the 2007-2008 school year.

Head Start is a preschool and referral program for families with low income and children with disabilities. It is a government program that serves 3- to 5-year-old children and does not charge any fees.

Head Start does not provide transportation, however, First School Steps Preschool and Community Presbyterian Child Learning Center coordinate with Head Start and provide transportation to their facilities after the program's morning class.

Needed items for enrollment include: complete and updated immunization records including a negative TB skin test and chicken pox vaccine; proof of birth; and proof of income for the year 2006. Once these items are obtained, applicants may call the Head Start office to set up an appointment with a staff member. Once the application process has been completed, the child will be put on a waiting list until an opening is available.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to get the needed items for enrollment and call for an appointment at (928) 474-2738, as classes are filling quickly for fall.
