Churches combine to open Lent

A combined church service is planned for Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21. Four churches will worship together at Mount Cross Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21. Participating in the program are Community Presbyterian, Payson United Methodist, St. Paul's Episcopal, and Mount Cross Lutheran Churches. This service marks the beginning of the Lenten season.

Mount Cross is located at 601 E. Highway 260 between Giant and Safeway.

Payson's Aglow International

This Saturday, Feb. 17, Payson's Aglow is honored to have Pastor Gordon Hauptman and his wife, Lynn, as our guest speakers. They have chosen the topic, "Remaining Faithful in the Little Things" for their presentation.

Men are invited to attend this gathering. Everyone is encouraged to come and enjoy a wonderful time of fellowship, praise and worship. Bring a dish of finger foods; drinks will be furnished for a small donation.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. with fellowship at Crossroads Church, 114 E. Cedar Lane, Payson.

First Church of the Nazarene Coffee Talk

The First Church of the Nazarene will have Coffee Talk at 4:30 p.m. beginning, Wednesday Feb. 21. Everyone is invited to participate. Our time together will take on new purpose as we being a 40-day journey to the cross during Lent 2007.

Come now and journey to the cross for an exciting 40 days of discovery to experience who Christ is, why he came and why he died. Travel in the sandals of those who were there. Renew your passion for following Christ daily. Invite someone to travel with you to share the experience -- a spouse, friend, neighbor or a co-worker. Enjoy your journey.

Ash Wednesday/Lenten services

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson, announces the onset of Lent and special Ash Wednesday and Midweek Lenten services, beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21.

The Lenten theme will be: "The Exoduses of the Scriptures." Services will begin at 6 p.m. on each of the next six Wednesday evenings. The theme for Ash Wednesday is "Ashes of Paradise Lost," based on Genesis, chapter 3. Holy Communion will be served. For more information, call (928) 474-5440.
