Margaret Leona Shirley Parkinson Wilson of Gisela, died peacefully in her sleep Feb. 3, 2007 in Gisela.
A native Arizonan, Mrs. Wilson was born in Bisbee, Ariz. on March 5, 1924. She lived in southern Arizona until she was 17, and then lived with her Aunt Lucile when she graduated high school. After high school she worked at The Arizona Republic newspaper until she met and married her first love, Roland Parkinson. Roland and Margaret had six children and raised them in the Verde Valley area.
In the early 1980s, they moved to the Prescott area. After losing her beloved daughter Dorna and her husband Roland, she met the second love of her life, Reuben Wilson. They did a short stint on the Triangle Inn Ranch and she was in her glory, loving ranch life and everything about it.
They then moved to Gisela, where she was known for her beautiful yard, which was filled with flowers and greenery. Sadly, Mrs. Wilson lost her beloved second daughter, Nordina and her second husband, Reuben. She mourned them deeply, but her monthly newsletter gave her the strength to continue. These newsletters were sent far and wide, and enjoyed by many friends and family -- they will be missed. She always had some story about Arizona history, which she loved to tell. It was very important to her.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughter Leona Parkinson of Prescott and Martina Tufts of Mission, B.C., Canada and her sons Dorn Parkinson of Kirkland, Ariz. and Nord Parkinson of Robesonia, Pa. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roland A. Parkinson and Reuben Wilson and her daughters, Dorna Parkinson Gross and Nordina Parkinson Doughty.
Services will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at Tiny's Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260.
