The 2006-2007 high school wrestling season has come to a close with a third place finish at the state tournament and 24-5 dual meet record. The wrestling team and wrestlerettes will be honored on Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Payson High School cafeteria. Letters and individual awards will be presented to all who met the Longhorn requirements and completed the season.
Parents and friends are encouraged to be in attendance. Head wrestling coach, Dave LaMotte, will make the presentations, as well as give a recap of the highly successful Longhorn season.
This will be the final high school wrestling function for senior athletes Kyle Leonard, Porter Wilbanks, Zach Rodgers and Oscar Chavez.
Returning wrestlers for next season will receive a schedule of spring and summer events in which the high school wrestling club will be participating. Club practices will be conducted on Tuesday and Thursday after school for those wrestlers not in a spring sport. These workouts are open to athletes in fifth grade and older. There are numerous club tournaments that can help in making future champions.
