Nominate Pine/Strawberry Volunteer Of The Year For 2006



Take Pride Project of Pine and Strawberry is accepting nominations for the prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award for 2006. Candidates should live in Pine or Strawberry and have made a contribution to our communities.

Write a paragraph or two telling about the way that this person has made a difference. Mail it to Take Pride Project, P.O. Box 1204, Pine, AZ 85544, or e-mail it to Ira Gibel, Take Pride president, at Deadline for entries is March 21.

There are a lot of people in Pine and Strawberry who regularly give of their time to make this a better place for all of us. There are a great number who contribute a lot of time and energy and we never hear about their great work. Nominate one of them for this award.

The Strawberry Patchers will have their DPS quiltathon on March 7, 8 and 9 in the Pine Library activity building at the rear of the Pine Community Center. During these three days, as many quilts as possible will be completed. Normally, they make about 250. The Department of Public Safety officers carry these quilts in their vehicles to give to children after an accident or other trauma. Everyone is invited to come and help. There are jobs for everyone. Youth Activities at the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library in Pine are in full swing. Don't miss out on these great activities and events

"Cat in the Hat" Bash, honoring the 50th anniversary of Dr. Seuss, will feature a visit from the Cat in the Hat himself at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Pine Library. There will be games, activities and refreshments. What fun.

Calling all teen actors and actresses. Two one-act plays will be presented this summer by the Library Youth Theatre. Auditions for "The 15-Minute Hamlet" and "How Reading Came Back to Nowhere" will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the library. Teens, ages 12 through 17, are invited to audition. Pre-Teen Drama Group, ages 10 through 13, will meet at noon, March 9, 16 and 23. There will be drama games, activities, improvisation and discussion of playwriting script in progress.

Movie Madness for Spring Break will be at 11 a.m. Thursdays, March 15 and March 22. Both days will feature a new release children's movie.

Preschool Story Time for children 2 through 5 is at 10:15 a.m. every Wednesday in March.
