Partners Working To Develop Plan For Interpretive Trail

The Gila Community College's Payson Campus is working with the Rim Country Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society, the Town of Payson Parks and Recreation Department, U.S. Forest Service, and the State Historic Preservation office to develop a plan for interpretive trail development at the Goat Camp archaeological site just north of the campus.

Dr. Joe Shannon and his Environmental Biology students have been collaborators in this planning effort. They may assist in initial trail designation and clearing work at the same time as they are working on their campus trail system.

Dr. Joe Shannon's Environmental, Biology class has begun developing an educational and interpretive trail system on campus that will serve several educational and recreational needs in our area. One important aspect of this trail is that it will be planned to complement a future community trail system currently being planned by the Town of Payson. The Payson Campus will be the eastern terminus of the community trail.
