Charles "Chuck" Hubbard died Dec. 28, 2006. He was 68.
He was born in Tucson on Aug. 15, 1938, grew up there and graduated from Catalina High School in 1957. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1957-1961.
Mr. Hubbard was a lance corporal (E-3), antitank assaultman and served overseas during the start of the Vietnam War.
He was also a gifted athlete and played football for the Marines in Hawaii, as a wide receiver and a kicker. He was honorably discharged and remained faithful to the Corps throughout his life.
After serving overseas, he worked in California and returned to Tucson in 1965.
He attended the University of Arizona and studied music. In 1965, he met his wife Carol Ann Adair in Phoenix and they married on April 30, 1966. While in California his first son, Raymond C. Hubbard, was born. In 1969, the Hubbards moved back to Tucson to care for their parents. In 1972, his second son, Duane Charles Hubbard, was born in Tucson.
He was a man of integrity and honor and loved to study and discuss the Bible. His faith was evident daily through his actions as a husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol; sons, Raymond (Shannon) and Duane (Sarah); and grandchildren, Will and Ellie.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held at Casas Adobes Baptist Church, 10801 N. La Cholla, Tucson at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6. Memorial contributions may be made to Ponderosa Vets Helping Vets in Payson, 212 W. Wade Lane, Payson, AZ 85541.
