Snow Postpones Events Planned For Weekend

My Pine Strawberry column was written as usual last week, but low and behold, I forgot to e-mail it to the paper.

My apologies to all who looked for it in Friday's Payson Roundup.

Autumn Phillips said she would run it on Tuesday, but it needed a little updating. Because of the snow, the initial meeting of the Investment Club, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, is rescheduled for 9:30 a.m., this Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Mogollon Steak House in Strawberry, formerly the Black Bear.

If your New Year's Resolutions include learning more about financial investments, plan to attend the initial meeting.

This is an introductory, informational meeting.

Those who decide to join will discuss how they want this club set up and develop bylaws and investment strategies. For new members, there is an initial investment of $50.

These funds will form the initial investment package.

Each month, each member adds $25.00 to the pool. Call Karen Blake, (928) 476-3658, for additional information.

Sandy Carver is the new youth activity coordinator for the Pine Library.

She is a retired high school drama director and English teacher from the Valley. She loves this new challenge of setting up programs for youth of all ages.

Particularly, she is interested in bringing in the junior high and high school students of Pine and Strawberry. She is offering all sorts of opportunities in writing, poetry, drama, whatever the teens want.

All these activities are held in the library. Call her at the library, (928) 476-3678 with any questions.

Pre-School Story Time is each Wednesday from10:15 to 11 a.m. at the library. Besides a story, there will be crafts, games, music, puppets and story drama.

The Jr. High Writer's Group will meet at noon on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Bring your writing to share, including poetry.

A new program for the after school children at the Pine/Strawberry School is the Library Enrichment Hour. At3 p.m. on Thursdays, these students will come to the library for "library enrichment activities."

As I mentioned last week, I will be traveling as often as possible so it is best to e-mail items of interest to residents and visitors of Pine and Strawberry to me at
