I commend Payson's Town Council for showing true leadership in working to make Payson a place that refuses to welcome or tolerate illegal aliens.
I'm constantly amazed when I see people pretending not to know the difference between illegal aliens and legal immigrants.
The famous poet, novelist and scientist, Johann Goethe, once wrote: "There is nothing more frightening than active ignorance."
Active ignorance of what illegal aliens are doing to our country is sickening at the least and dangerous at the worst.
We still have valid immigration laws that must be followed for our survival as a nation. The United States has never had an "open-door policy" that allowed absolutely anyone to sneak into our country.
In the words of Ronald Reagan, "A nation that fails to control its borders ceases to be a nation." Since our federal government continues to use only lip service and half-measures to control illegal immigration, more and more local and state governments will be forced to follow the wise actions of our town council.
With any luck at all, Payson might gain nationwide recognition as "that small town in Arizona that decided to stand up and fight the illegal alien invasion."
