Ray C. Friesen died Jan. 26, 2007 at his home in Beaver Valley. He was born on Oct. 14, 1923 in Washita, Okla. to Pete M. and Fern Friesen.
He met and married Annie Laura Lowman in 1946.
Mr. Friesen flew a DC-3 cargo plane in World War II and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Force Reserves in 1955 as a second lieutenant.
He retired from AT & SF Railroad, Winslow, Ariz., in 1974 and also worked as an agent for Provident and various other insurance companies for more than 30 years.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and flying the Cessna. More recently he enjoyed walking the dogs and chopping firewood. But most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Friesen played an integral part in the development of the Beaver Valley Fire Department and was an active member of the fire department board.
Mr. Friesen married Barbara Panico (Rosy) in November 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Friesen; daughter, Dianne Pawley (Bob); son, Don Friesen (Marie); grandchildren, Lori Bertino (Tom), Karen Callahan (Mikel), Kelly Friesen (Shawna), Robin Pawley and Krisy Howeth (Travis); and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie, and his sister, Violet Hill.

Private services were held Jan. 30 at the fire department.
