I want to thank the Rim Country for support of the "First Annual Blessing of the Bikes," which occurred Saturday, June 16, at Payson United Methodist Church. This new event, sponsored by the Methodist Church's riding group, "Riders of the Purple Sage," was very spiritually moving for those in attendance. The service focused on honoring and remembering veterans and motorcycle riders who have passed away. Additionally, each motorcyclist received a personal blessing from Rev. David Rennick, asking God to travel with them and keep them from harm.
I want to especially thank the Payson area chapters of the Modified Motorcycle Association (MMA), the American Legion Riders, and the American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education (ABATE) for their input and support of this event. Finally, I want to thank the Payson Police Department and its volunteers for providing us with a police escort through Payson, as we embarked on our group ride to the Mogollon Rim for prayer and fellowship. We look forward to establishing this event as an annual opportunity for motorcyclists to fellowship with each other and connect with God.
