Veneal Leoma Hunter Ellis


Veneal Leoma Hunter Ellis died July 8, 2007 in Payson. She was born Jan. 2, 1919 in Greenway, Ark.

Mrs. Ellis and her husband, Willie Ellis, moved to Chandler in 1945 and she has resided here throughout her life.

Her husband worked for Bogle Farms for 40 years and she was employed by Penmor Manufacturing (Gerber Products) in Tempe, Ariz., for 20 years.

She is survived by her son, Gerry W. (Kay) Ellis of Payson, grandson Ryan J. (DeAnna) Ellis of Fort Smith, Ark. and grandson, Samuel J. DeGroot, of New Mexico. Also surviving are sister, Mildred (James) Foster, of El Paso, Texas, brothers, Jesse Hunter of Phelan, Calif., Glinn (Joyce) Hunter of Mira Loma, Calif. and Piggott, Ark. and brother, Sig (Pat) Hunter of Bullhead City, Ariz. and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her daughter, Leita Veneal Ellis DeGroot, her husband, Wille Ellis, and sister, Mary Langston.

Graveside services were held at 9 a.m., July 13 at Mesa Cemetery, 1212 North Center Street, Mesa, Ariz.
