The Payson United Methodist Church is working to start a program to enhance health care in the Rim Country with a parish/faith nurse program. A nurse with this program provides a caring and compassionate presence through a unique blend of the following functions: health educator, personal health counselor, health advocate, referral agent, support group developer, volunteer coordinator and integrator of faith and health.
"Our health ministry goal is a nurture community -- healthy in mind, body and spirit," said Betty Gale, who is involved with the effort.
As part of the effort, a quilt will be given away in a September drawing. Tickets are available by a donation of $1 for one and $5 for six.
