Peggy Jean Collins, 63, of Tempe, died July 11, 2007 after a short, hard fight with lung cancer. She was born in Chestera, Pa. to Eugene and Marget Bowers.
Her father died when she was very young and her mother remarried John Robinson when She was 11.
Mrs. Collins and her family moved to Arizona in 1968, settling in Tempe. She retired from Arizona State University after 25 years, spending the last 20 years of her career in the athletic department.
After retirement, Mrs. Collins fulfilled her dream, of owning a "get-away" home in Payson. She and her husband, Ralph spent a lot of time enjoying their "get-away" and their new friends in Payson.
Mrs. Collins is survived by Ralph, her beloved husband of 40 years; children, Ed (Theresa), and John (Samantha). She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Kim. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved.
A memorial service will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by an urn commemoration at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 25 at the Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S Rural Road, Tempe.
