An elderly woman was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, after a three-car collision, across the Beeline from Wal-Mart.

At approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday, police, fire and paramedics responded to a report of an accident on Highway 87 just north of Highway 260. Payson Police said the driver of a dark green Chevrolet pickup, Michael Stutz, 47, of Scottsdale, was hit from behind by a red Ford Focus after he had stopped, because traffic was at a standstill in front of him.

One woman was transported to the hospital following a three-car accident on Highway 87 Tuesday in Payson. Police officials would not release any of the victims' names.

"It looked like someone was trying to get in or out of the drive up there, so I stopped and that's when I got hit from behind," Stutz said.

The driver of a tan Chevrolet Suburban was cited at the scene for speed greater than reasonable and prudent to avoid a collision.

Occupants of the Suburban included a middle-aged woman and two young children. All involved were examined and treated by Payson Fire Department and released, except for the driver of the Ford Focus, who was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
