Dee L. Anderson, 95, died at his home on July 5, 2007.
Mr. Anderson was born July 4, 1912 in Downs, Kan. He moved to Phoenix in 1942, working as a plastering contractor. In the later 40s, Dee moved to Star Valley and built the Lazy D Motel, along with his home. In the 60s, Dee owned an Angus cattle ranch in Montrose, Colo., and in 1970 returned to Arizona to become a plastering superintendent for Bob Campbell.
Mr. Anderson married his wife, Betty in 1978 and returned to the Star Valley area to retire. He built his home where the current Plant Fair nursery is. In 1993, Dee and Betty moved to Deer Creek and were known as one of the Friday night dancing couples at the Rye Creek Restaurant.
He loved life and shared it by the jokes, funny stories and old-time songs he would tell and sing. He never met a stranger and was liked by all.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Betty, of Deer Creek; daughter and son-in-law, Dick and Doralee Connolly of Payson; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Ray and Patty Bruce of Michigan and Larry and Jackie Divine of California; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, plus many great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Melvin and stepson, Terry, preceded him in death.
Services were held Tuesday, July 10. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dee Anderson's memory to RTA Hospice.
