Payson resident Daniel Wayne Gurd died July 21, 2007 after a lifelong battle with diabetes.
He was born June 4, 1985 at Payson Regional Medical Center and was raised in Strawberry. He attended Pine-Strawberry School.
He is survived by his mother, Bernice Gurd, sister and brother-in-law Cathy and John Kesterson, and the apple of his eye, his six-year-old nephew, Joe. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Mr. Gurd was preceded in death by his father, hunting and fishing partner, Arnold Gurd, maternal grandparents Bob and Mae Nelson and paternal grandparents Roger and Dene Wilkins.
He enjoyed going to swap meets and gun shows with his father and loved traveling and camping with his family in Arizona's beautiful country. He also loved WWF wrestling and watching the Diamondbacks on TV with his mom.
He recently went to a Diamondbacks game with his sister and nephew and met Randy Johnson, courtesy of the Dream Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at Messinger Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero, Payson.
