The contract with Rim Country Health and Retirement Community and DaVita Renal Care Group has been signed on the dotted line and it looks like it is official -- Payson will have a dialysis center.
"We just signed the (10-year) lease and they will start construction on about July 21," Harvey Pelovsky, administrator at Rim Country Health said.
DaVita representative Louise Gifford said that they are looking at October 1 to open the dialysis center doors.
Pelovsky said he thinks the opening will be in November or December.
"Keep an optimistic thought that the center will open sooner than later," Judy Baker, Mogollon Health Alliance director wrote in MHA's Health Watch newsletter.
MHA sponsored fund-raisers have generated $35,000 for the dialysis center.
The dialysis center will open with six chairs and be able to serve 36 patients.
"Our neighbors and loved ones have endured a lot and we don't want them to travel to the Valley any more than they have to," Baker added.
