Franklin Charles Woods


Franklin Charles Woods, 65, died July 7, 2007 in Tucson. He was born Aug. 25, 1941 in Syracuse, Kan.

He attended Greeley County Schools in Tribune, Kan., graduating in May 1959. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1965.

In 2000, he moved to Payson and worked for Amon Builders in Payson until the time of his death.

He loved life and his interests were many and varied. He obtained his pilot's license, enjoyed boating, scuba diving, golfing, bowling and many types of music. His passion for motorcycling took him across the country, where he often stopped to visit family and friends.

Mr. Woods was married to Myrna Jean Mikkelson in 1968. He is survived by a son, Steve (Jennifer) Woods of Lake Worth, Fla., daughter Sherri (Robert) Rollins of Bainbridge, Ga.; grandchildren, Elle Paige Woods, Charles and Angelia Rollins. He is also survived by three sisters, Virginia (Doug) Doty, of Fort Collins, Colo., Ila Jean (Larry) Crawford, of El Dorado, Kan. and Wanda (Jerry) Ramsey, of Kechi, Kan.; six nieces and nephews, Adam Doty, Shelly Merritt, Kim Andrews, Jessica, Seth and Natalie Ramsey.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Nellie Woods, Ernest and Lillian Kysar, parents Charles Woods and Norma McCauley, Uncle Dean and Aunt Arlene Holmes, Uncle Harry and Aunt Beulah Smades and Uncle Robert Kysar.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held in Calvary Chapel in Payson, Arizona, on Monday, July 16, 2007. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kan. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007.
