August menu

The Payson Senior Center serves a hot meal at noon weekdays in the Center dining room at 514 W. Main St. Advance reservations are required. Cost of the meal is $3 for persons 60 and older, $5 for those younger than 60. Meals can also be delivered to homebound individuals.

For reservations or information, call (928) 474-4876 weekdays for reservations. (The Senior Thrift Store can be reached at 474-3205.)

Our new menus will feature more healthy ingredients, less fat and more low-sugar foods. 1 percent milk will be served. Whole-grain breads and rolls will be served with with light butter -- light fruits and fillings will be used in desserts. You will receive the same great-tasting meals and the same generous servings and can feel good about the ingredients. The menu for August is as follows:

Aug. 1: Pepper steak, salad, baked potato, spice cake, wheat bread

Aug. 2: Chicken tenders, herbed potato wedges, cole slaw, pudding, whole grain roll

Aug. 3: Sliced pork, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, applesauce, stuffing

Aug. 6: Turkey ham steak, sweet potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, stewed apples, rye bread

Aug. 7: Corned beef, stewed tomatoes, cabbage, fruit mix, Mexicorn bread

Aug. 8: Country ribs, sauerkraut, boiled potatoes, cake, wheat roll

Aug. 9: Baked fish, potatoes au gratin, spinach, pudding, wheat bread

Aug. 10: Spaghetti with meatballs, salad, green beans, yogurt, garlic bread

Aug. 13: Cheeseburger deluxe, baked beans, salad, apricots, wheat bun
