Doubled Fees To Be Used In Search For Water

The Payson Town Council will meet Thursday and hold a first reading and public hearing to double the water development fee in town.

The current water development fee on new property in Payson is $3,785, said Payson Public Works Director Buzz Walker. That fee has been consistent since 1998. The council will discuss whether to increase the fee to $7,570.

"The intent of this now is that we've pretty much exhausted the funds for the old water development fee," Walker said. "The purpose of the fee is to find a new water source. It will probably go toward the Blue Ridge Reservoir project."
