Preston Curtis, 84, died May 31, 2007, following a brief illness. Family and friends had gathered by his side.
He was born Dec. 23, 1922 in Gabriel, Ark. to Gabriel and Mary Curtis.
In 1954, Mr. Curtis and his wife, Bette, moved to the Valley of the Sun. Upon retiring from the Salt River Project Agua Fria Steam Plant, Mr. Curtis enjoyed many outdoor activities including spending time at the cabin he built in Gisela, hunting, camping, fishing, exploring the countryside in his Army jeep, and riding his quad and dirt bike.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; daughter, Karen Kotowski of Glendale; son, Dale Curtis of Mesa; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Jennifer Johnston of Glendale; and three sisters, Dollie Terry of Beebe, Ark., Beatrice Bell of Hector, Ark. and Lila Crawford of Ventura, Calif.
A memorial service was held June 4 at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary in Glendale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to the Gisela Valley Volunteer Fire Department, HC-1 Box 1077, Payson, AZ 85541.
