Summer Recreation Program

Children entering grades six through eight can still register for the 2007 Summer Recreation Program, being offered this summer at the Rim Country Middle School.

The Summer Recreation Program is divided into two groups, third- through fifth-graders and sixth- through eighth-graders. The program is led by certified teachers, and incorporates fun physical and cultural activities, along with occasional field trips.

Both sessions meet from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday for three weeks. Session 1 is from June 5-26; Session 2 is July 7-24.

The cost is $40 per session per child, which includes a T-shirt and covers the cost of required supplies and field trips, unless otherwise specified.

There is still room in the sixth- through eighth-grade group for both sessions.

Register your child today for an exciting, active and social way to spend part of the summer in Payson. Advance registration is required -- this is not a drop-in program. Space is limited, so don't forget to register early.

Diamondback camps

The Arizona Diamondbacks Training Center is returning to Payson for another summer camp at Rumsey Park.

Register your child age 6-12 for either baseball or fast-pitch softball camp, which will be held from 8 to 11 a.m., July 9-13.

Cost of the camp is $150, which includes 15 hours of instruction, the new Sedona Red hat and a T-shirt. Call 1-800-821-7152 to register today.
