David Blank is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of an antique music box stolen from the Old Town Pawn Shop and reported to police by the owner of the pawn shop on May 28.
Payson Police Sgt. Tom Tieman said, "There was a burglary at the Old Town Pawn Shop, sometime over the Memorial Day weekend, in which it looks like a lot of stuff was taken."
In a letter to the Roundup offering the reward to the public, Blank said, "The antique music box has been passed down for three generations.
"I would never have pawned it under normal circumstances, but it was necessary."
Blank said the music box was appraised 10 years ago by his father, but, he said, "To me, it is priceless."
Blank intended to keep the family tradition alive and hand it down to the next generation.
"My son, Christopher has always known it was to go to him," he said.
Blank described the music box as being very heavy, made of wood, with the top lifting up to reveal a glass dust cover. He added that the box is wound and played with a crank handle and that it plays eight songs.
