Barbara June Thompson, 68, a 15-year resident of Payson, died June 6, 2007.
An inspiration to those who knew her, it is impossible to sum up her life in these few brief lines; instead, her friends are urged to remember both the joys and challenges she visited upon them, as a testament to a life well-lived. Her open and caring nature was evident to all who knew her ... and her keen insights were shocking in clarity and detail at times. A single mother, she had a long and varied career in many fields, but always valued family above all. In retirement, she was a tireless volunteer for the Time Out Thrift Store, being named its "Woman of the Year" for 1999.
Mrs. Thompson, whose wit and intelligence were well-known, is survived by her children Robbie, Ronda, Angel, and Farrell; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, three sisters; and her best friend Joyce.
Although ever spunky, she slipped serenely into God's embrace as she'd hoped; quietly and at home with all her children.
Caring friends may make a donation to either the Time Out Shelter, P.O. Box 306, Payson, AZ 85547 or RTA Hospice & Palliative Care, 511 S. Mud Springs Rd, Payson, AZ 85541. No public services will be held, as was her wish.
