Bennett Kolner, 84, died Feb. 27, 2007 in Payson. He was born Sept. 27, 1922 in Bialystok, Poland.
He immigrated to the United States as a boy. He lived in Boston, Mass. and became a rabid Red Sox fan. He graduated from Northeastern University and served in the Army's 4th Infantry Division during World War II.
After moving to Phoenix, Mr. Kolner worked as a contract salesman for Arizona Wholesale Supply Co., where he met and later married his wife, Winnie.
After retirement, they moved to Payson where they have lived for the past 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, Winnie; son, Martin of Tempe; daughter, Betty Ann (John) of Pleasant View, Colo.; stepson, Scott (Mary Beth) Ellsworth of St. Johns, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Craig Ellsworth.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Drive.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to RTA Hospice and Alzheimer's research.
