About a month ago, my dog was stolen. Needless to say, it has been hard on us.
I found out a man close to where I live stole him and took his collar off -- he had his rabies, county, name and phone number tags.
He had told some of the neighbor kids he wanted my dog. As it turns out Bob, my dog, got away and someone else took Bob to the Payson Humane Society shelter.
My husband called looking for Bob. After no luck I went to the groomers that Bob goes to and the feed store hoping maybe to hear something. On Friday, Feb. 23, a friend called to say that Bob was at the shelter and had been renamed, Pierre (ha ha). The Humane Society said it would be $75 to get him out. Well, my husband is unemployed and I just had surgery on my back and am not able to work yet.
We are broke.
Here's where the story gets good.
Bless the Humane Society. I asked if I could make payments. They said "no." I then asked my friend, Sara Fleischaker, who told me about Bob if I could borrow the money. She went with me to the shelter to get him. They said they would not charge me, because I fell through the cracks.
I did have them put a chip in Bob's back so we never go through this again. I want to thank the Humane Society for being so fantastic. As soon as we get back on our feet I am sure my husband and I will do all we can.
In the meantime, if anyone has a spare dime or some time, the Humane Society needs help. A new home will be under way soon and money is needed. Again, "thank you" to the Humane Society and Sara. May God, Mother Earth, Mohammad, Allah (and any I left out), bless you.
