Arizona high school students who wish to study journalism at an Arizona college or university may be eligible for assistance from the Arizona Press Women Memorial Journalism Scholarship, sponsored by Arizona Press Women and the Arizona Newspapers Foundation.
Arizona Press Women, a statewide organization of professional communicators, established the $500 scholarship to honor the memory of Arizona women journalists who were pioneers in a field previously dominated by men.
Applicants should be graduating high school seniors who intend to major in journalism at an accredited Arizona university or college.
Requirements include a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, a statement of financial need, two writing samples and a one-page letter from the student, stating their background and the reasons they want to pursue a career in journalism. The application deadline is March 15. The winner will be honored at a luncheon Saturday, April 21 at a Valley hotel.
