Students from Rim Country Middle School's seventh-grade class were guests at Wednesday's meeting of the Payson Birders.

Guest speaker Bob Fox of Wild at Heart showed those at the meeting a number of raptors, including this burrowing owl. Out came students' cell phone cameras to record the visit.

Wild at Heart's burrowing owl project is an award-winning prototype program to rescue the owls from land being developed and relocate the critters to artificial burrow habitat.

It has relocated 356 owls and is recognized as one of the most successful conservation and habitat restoration programs anywhere.
