The Lady Horns softball team smoked the Fountain Hills Eagles,13-1, Tuesday after beating them 9-0 last week in the Wickenburg Tournament.
"Overall (it was a) solid performance," said coach Curtis Johnson.
Tiffany Klemstine hurled a complete game, fanning seven and only allowing three hits.
Klemstine also went 2-for-4 offensively.
"It was one of her best outings of her Longhorn career," Johnson said.
Sarah Cadd jacked two home runs and tallied four RBIs. Not to be outdone, Candice Johnson was a home run shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and a triple. She knocked in five RBIs.
Johnson said the team will continue with two-a-day practices to prepare for a tough home opener against Snowflake at 3:30 today, Friday.
"The players are looking forward to the challenge," Johnson said.
The junior varsity team was also victorious Tuesday, bludgeoning the Eagles by a score of 33-3.
"The (JV) team is working very hard this year under (coach) Lee Ann Owens' guidance," Johnson said. "We expect them to surprise many teams this year."
