I recently attended the boys state basketball tournament. I noticed that Payson had a large number of fans. It was awesome being a spectator cheering on our hometown team. I supported Mr. Sandoval's decision to allow a "field trip" for students to attend the game, even having buses bring them down. I heard that the school board did not support such a day. However, one has to know the high school is much more than books, tests and discipline.
It's also about camaraderie, teamwork, life experiences and fun.
I am only an eighth-grader this year, but I hope to one day be a participant in a state tournament and have a principal and school board that will allow students to support their team.
