I've never been to Payson, but I've recently learned what a nice and helpful community Payson is. My sons were returning from a college rodeo in Florence when their truck broke down in Payson this past Sunday afternoon.
We live in Santa Fe, N.M. and I was worried about their safety, being so far away from home.
The truck was towed to Chapman Auto Center and a lady hauled our horse trailer with our horses to the Payson Rodeo Grounds.
My sons and their friend camped out in our horse trailer for two days, waiting for the truck to be repaired.
Not knowing anyone in the Payson area, I contacted Peter Orlando with the Gila County Sheriff's Posse and told him about my situation. Peter arranged for someone to pick up my sons and took them to buy feed for their horses and run other errands.
Another lady went to the rodeo grounds and turned on the water so our horses could drink.
Deon Lloyd with Chapman Auto Center got the parts ordered and the truck repaired by Tuesday morning.
Thanks to all who helped my sons while in Payson and to those who helped repair the truck.
