Charles W. Purcell, a resident of Payson for 26 years, died in Argyle, Texas on March 19, where he had moved recently to be close to family.
Born in Greenville, Miss., Charles was 82 and was preceded in death by his wife Bethel in 2004. Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in the South Pacific.
He was employed by the Bank of America for 35 years and spent most of his married life in San Francisco where he and Bethel raised their family.
Mr. Purcell is survived by sons Charles Jr. (Linda), Michael (Elizabeth) and David; grandchildren Laurel (Jonathan), Paul and David; and great-grandchild Mia.
