We thought it was awfully hot awfully early, and now it is cool again. The clouds today were moving quickly -- black, dark gray and light surrounding a little patch of bright blue sky. It was incredible. However, I hear warm weather is on the way again.
Before it gets hot, we need to be raking up leaves and pine needles and cleaning out those gutters. If we want the fire crews to protect our property, we need to do our part to make it defensible. If you want to know how your property stacks up or what you can do to make it more defensible, call the Pine Strawberry Fire Department at (928) 476-4272, and someone will come to your home and do a personal assessment.
Hopefully, you have noticed all the clearing and thinning that has been done around Pine and Strawberry. The goal is to have specific areas cleared, providing a space from which to fight and stop a fast-spreading fire. Mike Brandt and his crew are working hard to prepare us for this upcoming fire season.
