The Carpino duo joined KCMA in May 2006.

Although the Carpinos will be leaving the daily workings of the radio station, they believe in the mission of community radio, John Carpino said, and have agreed to continue helping with the radio station, as time permits.

"It's been a true delight and pleasure to program the music for KCMA," Carpino said. "It's a homegrown, handpicked play list, like no other. I'm really proud of it."

"John's knowledge of music certainly was instrumental in helping bring a new listening audience to KCMA here in Rim Country," said Cindy Kofile, public relations director for KCMA. "All of us at KCMA are committed to continuing the good work we have started and want the community to know we appreciate the ongoing support we receive from our listeners and underwriters.

"Our listeners have become fond of the diverse programming we offer, with shows like the Cool Mountain Morning Show, Trivia Challenge and Chamber Chat.

"The popularity of these shows, along with the informative news provided through our partnership with the Payson Roundup and USA Radio News Network, has been an important part of our growth.

"We believe in the strength and goodness of our many KCMA staff members and volunteers. We have many plans in the works for our ‘little radio station.' Here's to the next leg of our journey together.

"John and Lu have been a big part of KCMA and will always be welcome. The staff and board members of KCMA will genuinely miss them," Kofile said.
